About

I’m Ishai, an Annie-nominated screenwriter and copywriter.

BIO

I grew up all over the place. One minute I was feeding goats in a commune and the next I was sneaking onto a subway in some metropolis halfway around the world. All that migrating made me an outsider – which, as we all know, is key towards becoming a writer.

After years of specs, I got my break writing professional wrestling, which was a great place to get a break in. You learn everything about drama and comedy when they’re stripped down to their bare, spandex-clad essentials. And I balanced it out by writing my thesis in uni on romantic poetry.

Since then, I’ve written on shows like Totally Spies for WB and 101 Dalmatian Street for Disney, and I wrote a feature for Fox called Condorito (it was number one at the box office in several countries, I still do a mental victory laps when I think about it). I’ve also done some preschool with lovely shows like Peppa Pig.

Writing-wise, I swear by outlines, rewrites, and rewrites. Outlines are my security blanket, and rewrites – well, you know about rewrites.

I still travel quite a bit, mainly so that I can steal stories from the people I meet on the road (ask me about my journal sometime). I still geek out over wrestling (some habits you never kick out of, ba-dum-tss), plus sci-fi, comics, anything gothic, Tom Stoppard plays, This American Life, and poetry.

Ads

I’ve written dozens of award-winning ads, working with talents such as Jeff Goldblum, Alec Baldwin, Drew Barrymore, Ronda Rousey, and Penn & Teller (they were all really nice).

REPRESENTATION

I’m represented by Jean Kitson at Kitson Press and Julie Kane-Ritsch at The Gotham Group.
